Performing Arts Celebration Night

Congratulations Mrs Hartshorne (and helpers) and students for a fabulous night's entertainment! Thanks to the families who came along to support the event. To see the children's excitement was an absolute joy.

Yesterday (Thursday), we had our end of year Performing Arts Concert. Our performance was 'Surf in the USA' (1B). My sister's performance was 'Dinosaur Stomp' (PB). I was silly because I switched partners too early. IT WAS AWESOME!!!     Markus

On Thursday we had our Performing Arts Concert. The concert is all about surfing in the USA. I saw Leo, Tyler, Annelise, Ella, Will. I came up first, but we were actually up 2nd, and we didn't see the first people up and also I saw my brother up there. It was great because the concert was just awesome. OK I'll tell you, because it is a hall thing, I had so much food but one drink. It was a Slush Puppy and the food was two jelly fruits, Callippo.  Someone purposely grabbed me and threw me on the ground but it didn't hurt much, also we didn't get told off but we got told that we can't spin in the hall because the people on stage are distracted.     Noah

I was in bathers, t-shirt and denim shorts with flowers on it. I was sitting with my friends. It was so so so so so wonderful. My mum let me have lots of money. We did USA. It was awesome and it was fun. I was in bathers and my friends were in bathers too. I played in the playground and I was on stage too.     Jazzy

When it was the Performing Arts Concert we did the song SURFIN' USA!! I wore a rashy and boardies. I took my Transformers surfboard. On my rashy it had a picture of Bad Boys. It was so so so so so aaaawwwweeesssooommmeee!!!!     Gus

Last night it was my Performing Arts Concert. Mine was 'Surfing in the USA'. It was very fun. My mum and dad were there. I had a hot dog and a Solo. I played in the 5-6 playground with Sadie. Jasmine

On Thursday we had our Performing Arts Concert. We were doing 'Surfing in the USA'. I was nervous. It was awesome. I saw Billy's and he did a disco one. I wore my bathers. I wore my dress underneath. I had lots of fun. I wish we could do it again tonight.     Lucy

Yesterday we had our Performing Arts Concert, Our song was 'Surfing in the USA'. I wore red shorts and a blue singlet. I saw Noah, Will, Cooper, Leo, Lochie and Cannon. I had a Slushie. The flavours were cola, raspberry and strawberry. We played dance tiggy and spinning dance tiggy. After our performance I was looking for my mum, dad and my sister. Me and Mason swapped place in our performance. The performance was AWESOME!!!!     Tyler

Last night was thePerforming Arts Celebration Night. I was wearing blue, yellow and pink zinc. My friend Corey was after Will's dance ('Twist my Hips'). I played in the playground. When it was time for us to go backstage Annelise got everybody. We were second. We did 'Surfin' in the USA.'     Ella

We had a concert and we had hotdog and I was crying and Mrs Bennett gave me a lollybag and cheered me up and it was a big concert.     Harlan

Last night was awesome. I sat with Tyler, Noah and Leo. We played until Tyler went home, then we played until Noah went home, then me and Leo went home.     Cannon

On Thursday the 10-12-15 1B went to the Performing Arts Concert! We were up 1st (well, the 1st grade). Our song was 'Surfing in the USA'. I was wearing my rashy, skirt and yeah! It was AWESOME! My Dad was watching me, and I had Subway!     Annelise

Christmas Show

On Thursday, the 3rd of December, the grade ones and year sevens (from Lara Secondary College) went to Kardinia Church to watch a Christmas performance. We went on a bus (two, actually).  We were excited because we were performing in front of the year sevens, but there were also lots of other fun acts.

Tyler, Abbey and Josh were in a spelling bee slime contest. The kids had to spell 'snowflake' and 'angel'. The teachers were bad spellers! They couldn't spell 'paraphernalia' and 'cantaloupe'. We were cheering for the kids. The kids won!

We watched a funny movie that taught us that Christmas is not about the presents, but it is about the Christmas spirit. 

Jazzy and Christian were in a present opening competition, boys vs girls. The girls won because they found the golden ticket. 

We performed the song 'Santa Wear Your Shorts'. We performed at the end. We had been practising lots with Miss McCoy. We were very proud.

We had a great time. We hope we can go again in grade 2!

Transition 2

This week we have met our new teachers and classmates. Mr Beck, Mrs Bennett and Mrs Newman welcome you to 2B, 2J and 2N!

Transition Day

We're nearly ready for Grade 2 and today we met the Grade 2 teachers! We all played some BluEarth games which Mr Beck taught us. We played 'Everyone's It' and 'Wasp'. 

 

Responsible Pet Ownership

On Tuesday 1B and PB went to see Deb and her dog. Deb's dog was called Storm.  Alyza

I met Deb for the first time at Dog Safety and I learnt look down, be quiet as a mouse. The dog's name is Storm and Deb has 6 pups. Storm is white, also fluffy and old but playful because he runs. He is also cute. We also went with Prep B.  Noah

On the 1st of December we went to Dog Safety. We saw Deb and Storm. We learnt new things for when you see an angry dog, 1) be very still, 2) hands and arms down, 3) stay quiet as a mouse, 4) look at the ground.  Gus

Yesterday we saw a lady called Deb. Her dog was called Storm. He was a big, big, big dog!!! He was white and very fluffy. If you see a dog that is angry you need to stand very still, look at the ground and put your hands beside you.  Lucy

Yesterday we saw Deb and Storm. Now let me tell you about dogs. You have to feed dogs, you have to make sure they don't get into mischief and make sure they go to the vet and they drink and eat. If you see a red and yellow collar that means they're a dangerous dog so move away. Giaan

1B and Prep B went to Deb and Storm. We learnt about red and yellow collars. Jazzy

OnTuesday we saw Deb and Storm. We learnt how to pat a dog. Stand three steps away, use your manners, let the dog sniff your hand and pat it on the back.  Emmersyn

Yesterday we learnt about dog safety. If you pat a dog you have to let the dog sniff your hand and if they do not smell your hand they don't want a pat.  Ella

Triple celebrations

Lara PS has had three reasons to celebrate recently - 

1) the Family Fun Day 

2) the time capsules 

3) the school's 50th birthday. 

1B and their buddy grade, 3/4E, were lucky enough to be able to share all of these events at their assembly performance on November, Friday 13th (an unlucky day for some, but not for them!)

On Friday we did our assembly item, it was fun as. I talked and I said, “Hi I am Lucy and I’m in charge of the air brush tattoos. Listen I have to go somewhere for a while so can you watch things for me until I get back. Oh, and don’t let pigeon near the tattoos.”  Lucy

Last week was our assembly item. I was a pigeon. Sadie was a dancer. When Sadie ran on stage I called to her, “Go Sadie”. Ella

I had my assembly item. I was a dancer. Jasmine came to hold the sign. Noah and Paiyton sang a song, ‘Back in Time’. I was at the front for the last dance. I wore a colourful skirt and a t-shirt and pink shoes. Emmersyn

Last Friday it was 1B and 3/4E’s assembly item. I was a dancer. The songs I did were ‘Back in Time’, ‘Birthday Mashup’ and ‘Get Stupid’. I had lots of fun and so did everyone else. I loved the school’s cake and we did not do some birthday party poppers. Giaan

I was a dancer. I wore a surfing skeleton t-shirt and colourful shorts. My favourite song was ‘Get Stupid’. It was fun because my mum came to watch me. Tyler

On Friday the 13 November 2015 and I had an assembly item at school. I was a singer and also a dancer. I didn’t lip sync. It was fun! Noah

Last Friday we had our assembly item. It was really fun. We had the school’s 50^th birthday. Tehata didn’t have his t-shirt on and he had tattoos all over him. We did the song ‘Birthday Mash Up’ and ‘Back in Time’ and ‘Get Stupid’.  Gus

On my assembly item I was holding up a sign. It said NOOOO!! My mum and dad were there and Estelle was there. It was fun and I was wearing black clothes. Jasmine

On Friday the 13^th 1B had their assembly item. They were AWESOME! And this is what I did. I was a dancer. My favourite song was ‘Get Stupid’ and there were two more dances, the ‘Birthday Mash Up’, and I was first up, and ‘Back in Time’. Annelise

I was a dancer at our assembly item on Friday. I was a good dancer when it was time for us to dance. It was fun! Alyza

I was a dancer in the assembly. I was at the front because I had good moves in the free dancing. The songs were ‘Get Stupid’, ‘Birthday Mashup’ and ‘Back in Time Mash Up’.  Leo

On Friday it was a special day and I was first up on the microphone. I did a pretty good job because it was soft when I said, “Hi, I’m Cannon,” and then it went loud. Everyone did a great job. It was awesome. Cannon

I was not in the assembly, and I was crying. I saw my mum and dad.  Mason

Last Friday it was our assembly item. I was a reader. My whole class danced to ‘Get Stupid’. It was fun. I was speaking on a microphone. Daisy

On Friday the 13/11/15 1B had their assembly item! I was a reader. I was talking about the time capsule. I think I said, “The contents have been displayed around the hall today, they include things like: work from students and other stuff.” Also someone talked before me. Markus

At assembly I was holding a sign and it said Act 1, 2 and 3.  I had a good time. Jamie

I was in the audience and I did get changed and I danced till the end. We had our photo taken and that was good!  Will
